The little birds...

If you watch little birds you will see they are busy and happy! Using whatever they can find they create the most gorgeous little nest.
I would be the little bird with some glittery thread in her nest!
We can be like this. Happily working away with the things that are available to us to create a beautiful and happy home.
All the while with a little song in our heart.

We have moved!

I was not able to post Feather your Nest Friday as that was actually our moving day!  It was huge!   Each day I have appreciated your prayers.  And each day I have written down big things that happened and taken photos.

Now at the farm we have internet MOSTLY.  We are still working out what works and what doesn't and we don't have any tv.  So I THINK I can blog at least on clear days!

Some things I will have to do any way I can make them work like this post.  Being unable to post myself you can imagine how I felt when I got this email yesterday from Laine.

I can't get my iPad to talk to my laptop and I can only get emails on my iPad!  So here is her letter to you via screen shots... I hope this works!

It is so good for me to read some of Laine's encouragement.  I hope you enjoy it too.

So sorry this is such a bad way to post Laine's Letter, I hope you can read it.  But I know it is precious to everyone who has followed Laine for so long!

Now to test if this will actually post!  If it does then I am set to post about our new life at Bluebirds Farmhouse!

I truly hope everyone has had a great and productive week and will have a wonderful new week. xxx

  1. Annabel, how wonderful that you are moved!!! Take your time and enjoy setting up your new home. We are preparing for a possible direct hit from Hurricane Florence so things are a bit hectic here and this after just getting home from extensive traveling! Life is certainly interesting around here but not the same kind of interesting that is going on around you. I am so happy for you! Just wanted to pop in and say congratulations!

  2. Laine's letter is very easy to read. No problem at all. Try to get some rest and don't wear yourself out. Thank you for all your sweet ideas.

  3. Wow you have moved, Annabel! How exciting! I hope you are not too exhausted. I could read Laine's letter well on my iPad but it was fuzzy on my phone. It sounds like you might have an interesting time with the internet :-) All the best with setting up your new home.

  4. Annabel,
Lovely to hear that you have made the move and that it went well. I look forward to seeing your photos and hearing all your news.

How thoughtful of Laine to send her email to be shared at such a busy time for yourselves (the screenshots worked just fine). Thankyou Laine, I love the idea of swishing rather than scrubbing - I will keep this thought in mind while cleaning.

    Best wishes,

  5. Dear Annabel and Laine,
Thank you, both, so much. What a blessing you are to Bluebird followers.
I love your idea, Laine, of cleaning off surfaces in order to quick clean them. Your daughter is very wise to follow her mom.
I am so excited for your new country life, Annabel.
    Love and hugs,

  6. I am so glad to hear that you are moved and all is well. It will take a bit to get all the kinks worked out but then it will be done.

We have had a lovely weekend with our three oldest grandchildren and their parents here to visit. It has been really hot but we went to a new playground here that is for big kids and they had such fun for free. Also lots of playing with toys that were our kids toys so they are different than they have at home.

  7. First, so happy you are all moved. You will be settled in no time. I keep thinking of the wonderful new memories you will be making this holiday season in your new home. Can't wait to see pictures.
Secondly, thank you Laine. Lovely post. Congrats on the new baby.
    Blessings to all.

  8. Yeah, it worked! It is so nice to hear the latest news from Laine :)
So glad you have successfully made the move to the country! How exciting to be moving into a new phase of life. You will love it. It was a bit of an adjustment 20 years ago when we moved out into the country, I didn't just make a quick trip much of anywhere, except the post office which is not far, and a church across the street from it... Our little down town was long ago shuttered and closed, and even then it was only a few stores (now vacant buildings) sitting next to the rail tracks.
Okay, there I go off into a rabbit trail. :) It will take a little planning but how very much you will enjoy it there and thrive! I am so happy for you.
Have a blessed day Ladies (waving)

  9. Congratulations on your move!! It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun setting everything up just how you want it. Hope all goes well for you. Thankyou for the letter from Laine. I used to read her letters years ago and now really enjoy seeing her pop up on your blog. She always inspires me. I like that idea of clearing off the kitchen counters. I only have a 4 foot long counter so I think I'll try it.

  10. Congratulations on your move! Unpacking always feels a little like Christmas to me. :) Laine's letter is perfectly readable, and I love her positive attitude. Can't wait to hear more about life in your new place! :)

  11. Congratulations on your move! So truly happy for you!

So good to hear from Laine and how sweet it was for her to write a post! It was wonderful to read one of her letters again (new!) Congratulations, Laine, on your new granddaughter!

  12. Thank you Laine. You always have so much to share. I love that you “picked up the slack” when Annabel is so busy moving. Anne

  13. Congratulations, Annabel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thank you, Laine, for your post!! My timer is beeping for supper...gotta go!!

  14. Annabel, Congratulations on the move. That is so exciting.
Laine, Congratulations on the new granddaughter. God has blessed you both with some new adventures ahead.

  15. We joke that we are so used to saving all of our lives for a house, to start a family, kids'college funds, major purchases, retirement and now that we are here we are like now what??? We are used to living a very frugal lifestyle and enjoy it. I try to be sympathetic to friends that spent, spent, spent all of their lives and wonder why they can't retire. I am happy my husband has been a wise steward of our financial resources over these years.

  16. Glad to hear you're moved in! Phew! Looking forward to when you're up and running again!
It's always a pleasure reading Laine's posts. Thanks Laine and congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter.

  17. Congratulations Annabel!! What an amazing feeling for you all. I hope all went smoothly with final touches to your other house, and that it sells quickly.

There are some great ideas in Laine's post, how thoughtful of her to send it to you at this busy time. I particularly like the idea of a clear kitchen counter. I am rearranging our kitchen this week so I think I will aim for the same.

Another birthday here over the weekend, and this week my eldest has gone on his first school camp!! I'm so excited for him, I remember school camps fondly.

I think I will be able to shop just for fruit and veges this week, which will be a nice boost to the budget. I got coffee sachets last week for half price so I bought extras to add to Christmas hampers and teacher gifts.

I hope you enjoy your week of unpacking and sorting and just settling in!!

  18. Dear Annabel,
I was so happy and excited to see the post saying you have moved! I'll be looking forward to seeing the pictures and details.
The letter from Laine was interesting. I am still working on organizing and decluttering. I am hoping to clear some surfaces, so found Laine's thoughts encouraging.
    Love from Arizona,

  19. What a generous heart you both have. You Annabel for even thinking of us mid-move, and Laine for supporting you by writing a lovely post. Thankyou. Mimi xxx

  20. Can you hear my SHOUT of praise from the other side of the country?! Woo hoo!! Thank you Lord for Annabel's safe move, and also for Laine's thoughtfulness in writing to us.
I could read it fine on my ipad and laptop.
Bless you lovely gal, and may your old home sell swifter than you can imagine. xxx

  21. Hi Annabel and thank you so much for posting the wonderful email from Laine and thank you Laine for all that you share with us to encourage us all as well as yourself Annabel :). The screenshots work beautifully and as usual thinking laterally you have done a wonderful job.

How exciting for you Annabel to have moved and I know you will have your new home up and running in no time although I know the effort and time that goes into re-organisation. Be kind to yourself and take breaks and do it gradually so as not to wear yourself out.

We too have been on a organisation binge and I have to say that all the effort is worth it to see everything in it's place and more importantly knowing where to find things is the key when you need them saving so much time rather than searching for things.

With cleaning we also do mini cleans and a deep clean at the end of each week with the bathrooms and toilets. We find by doing mini clean ups on our way to do other tasks that it saves so much time and keeps the house in order. It also stops the mad rush to clean up if you get a phone call that a friend is popping by shortly too.

Have a fantastic week Annabel, Laine and everyone :).

  22. Hi Annabel & Laine,
A big congratulations on your move Annabel! I'm so excited and happy for you! It is a good feeling to move to a special home that feels just right and where you are meant to be. Enjoy settling in and making it yours.
And Laine congratulations on the birth of your grandaughter, what a beautiful blessing! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and care in writing a post for Annabel at this busy time. I always enjoy reading your wonderful ideas and encouragement too! Take care, Kelly

  23. Congratulations Annabelle! And also to Laine in her sweet new grandchild. Thank you for sharing the letter! Amy

  24. That is really exciting Annabel, moving officially into your new farmhouse. I am amazed you were able to post at all, you all must be super exhausted. Take your time to settle in and get plenty of downtime as well. Fi xx

  25. Congratulations Annabel on the move! How exciting! I hope you are getting some time to rest. Thank you for posting at such a busy time. Laine, thank you for sharing such wonderful tips. Congratulations on your grandchild! Wonderful news. I love clean counters too and one of our favourite dates is the library as well! I think I could implement more swishing and do a little cleaning every day (particularly the bathrooms). Lots of love, Bridge

  26. So glad to hear that you’re moved into your new farmhouse, Annabel! And what a treat to hear again from Laine! Congratulations to her on the birth of her new grandbaby! Love to all Bluebirds from Teresa

  27. Congratulations on your move. You sound so very happy. Thankyou Laine for stepping in and sharing . I found it interesting reading about your food diary and your health. I know the two are interrelated but sometimes the combinations of foods upset us and and its difficult to remember. And if managing your food works and there is no medication then that is a sure fire winner.

  28. You are so sweet to publish Laines letter for us, when I know how very busy you must be. Yes, I could read it perfectly fine.
I hope all things moving related are going smoothly and am looking to seeing your posts about it. ❤️

So kind of Laine to share with us! Admittedly, I was trying to imagine where I'd put everythingon my kitchen counters!!
The Kitchen Aid would have to stay....that thing weighs a ton!!

Enjoy your nesting, ANnabel!! How exciting!

  30. How wonderful a treat it was to hear from Laine again and also an update on your progress in moving too Annabel! 😊
Hoping the farmhouse life is everything you'd hoped for (and more) and praying that you have a quick sale of your city home.
    Love, Kaye xoxo

  31. Dear Annabel, great to hear you are safely moved, I really apprecuate Laine's thoughtfulness in writing a letter for you at this time, and you posting it when you are so busy. Laine: congratulations on your ninth grandchild, that is so wonderful. Thankyou for your encouraging letter. My house is small and would benefit from clear surfaces. I will work on this, I fight a tendency to have things I use regularly or projects I am working on out so I dont forget about them, but I will work on the everything in its place idea. Clare

  32. Congratulations! Many blessings to you and yours, Annabel.

Thank you, Laine for blessing us. Can't wait to try the custard recipe.

  33. Annabel I am so pleased for you. Now you are going to be even busier with all the new plans you have for your new home. Have fun.

  34. It is indeed precious. I first read Laine's Letters way back in '97 or '98 I think. It was in Coming Home magazine. Everything seemed possible back then. We were so young. Now I've learned that we do the best we can with the situations we are in. Whether the trouble be financial, physical, or relational, God will take care of us.
