Basket collection.

I just love baskets. They have so many uses.  Quite often I find bargain ones in thrift shops and I have a collection as well. Many have been hidden in cupboards holding yarn or fabric because they are the old brown baskets when I really aspire to french country style ones.

A makeover this week has transformed half a dozen for me!

Here's a photo of some I was hiding away.

After painting them I searched for vintage french labels. A great place is  The Graphics Fairy. Now if you have spray glue and you lightly spray a light cardboard with it and carefully press fabric over this you can get it to go through your printer. Once it's through gently peel the fabric off the card. I use any old floral print and as you put it on the card you cut it to fit exactly. After I then rip rather than cut the edges to get a slightly frayed look.

If you'r fabric is a bit bright consider the wrong side. i'm always using the wrong side as it just looks more worn.

Then carefully place and glue your images where you would like them. You can produce old labels using stamps or even finding old newspapers or magazines and making labels.

I'm now going to have these out and use them everyday. Very easy but big difference!

  1. Annabel, how clever you are! I love your idea on using the softer coloured reverse side of the fabric. How could I not have thought of this. Beautiful :)
