Feather your Nest Friday, 27th March, 2020.

I am posting late in the day, in bed in fact.  It has been such a busy week and somewhat stressful.  I am not going to talk too much about the virus here but I will post, hopefully, on Sunday about that and some ways we might be able to help ourselves and each other.

For now I will concentrate on the good things and what I could achieve this week and I think that will be good for me.  I have had moments, especially today, where things are getting to me.   I always say I do best if I put worry in to action but I think today I crossed some kind of invisible line into too much action!

We stayed home mostly.  I had one venture into shops briefly for the week.  It was sobering.   Oh yes, I am not talking abut that until Sunday!

We did have some major blessings and I must not let these times cloud appreciation for the good things!  The sun shone and our days were perfect Autumn days.  I feel it is very healthy to be in the sun and outside as much as possible.  I feel it doing me good.

There is a new addition to the family.  This is Chloe's new baby.  Well, big baby.  His name is Flynn.

He is gorgeous.  To me he seems unreal like a mythical creature or from a child's book.  But he is real!  His eyes are just incredible... he is all eyes and eyelashes.

Also he "talks" a funny little language and has some crazy expressions!

This seems to be "I like you but I am not sure if you like me?" haha!

Anyway as you can probably tell I want one.

I did manage to order six more chickens.  To me this is just wise and I had to go on a list and wait until all unnecessary movement is over... so it could be a while.  But I am fairly confident I can add six chickens.

I kept working through apples.  This involved two batches of apple puree and a big cake.

I made the girls some cupcakes.  The icing in my opinion was a bit of a disaster but they thought the colour was marvellous.

One of the nicest things during the week was I went picking figs with Chloe.  There is a huge sprawling tree over an old stone house right near her house.  It is low and there are big fat purple figs all over it. Last year it didn't do well so this year Chloe watered that tree and looked after it.  Well it worked!  You could pick figs for a couple of hours and still not make a dent.

We were chatting, out in the Autumn sunshine, and filling our baskets with figs.  It was lovely.
I feel blessed to be on the farm and to have produce to use, fresh eggs each day and family to help each other.

In the gaps I made face masks.   At first I had no elastic so I used stretch lace.  But I like them.  I did three layers.  While they are not as good as N95 or N99 make those are not available.  I got the pattern a US hospital was giving to people as they were asking for masks to be made.  From this I concluded they are of use.

I notice now how we look at everything differently.  This week we got a packet of toilet paper.  It was like winning the lottery!  People get excited over small things now!

I think we need to take things day by day.  Be careful to make good decisions and exercise a lot of restraint and caution.

How was your week and how did you keep things going in your home?  Keep your children snug and peaceful?  Keep bellies full?   I think already we are all learning to be more creative!
With love and encouragement to you. xxx

  1. I made jam out of some fruit in my fruit bowl that needed using up, I even used icing sugar as that was what I had, but it turned out beautifully. My daughter gave me 2 punnets of cress, which nearly made me cry as I hadn't even seen any veg in almost a week. It was her birthday and although I couldn't see her I did manage to bake her a cake, no mean feat as she's gluten intolerant and I don't keep gluten free flour in, so it was a flourless chocolate cake. I had knitted a hot water bottle cover, which was intended as part of her Christmas present, but got moved forward, in the circumstances.
It's been a surreal time, bringing out both the very best and very worst in people, but we have been fortunate in that we have had beautiful weather which has made things that little more bearable.
    Take care everyone.

    2. Hi Patti

      The recipe is -

      Easy Flourless Chocolate Cake

      120g dark chocolate
      120g unsalted butter
      150g caster sugar
      80g cocoa powder
      3 eggs, beaten
      1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 150 Celsius. Grease a 20cm round cake tin and dust with cocoa powder.
In a double boiler melt the chocolate and butter. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar and cocoa powder, eggs and vanilla extract. Pour into the prepared tin and bake for 30 minutes, when it will still look wet and a skewer will NOT come out clean. Allow to cool in the tin for at least 10 minutes then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Sorry it's in UK terms, but I 'm not very good with the cups thing!

  2. Hello Dear Annabel!

I agree with the girls. The color of your icing is just marvelous!

Flynn is certainly a handsome fellow! I bet he is quite the character, too. :)

Your fig picking sounds lovely. I don't think I've ever eaten a fig!

I have been struggling this week. Our governor shut schools down for the rest of the year (children will be doing online learning). Did that only happen Tuesday? I feel badly for my 18 year old son. He is graduating this year, but right now it is up in the air as to if there will be a ceremony or not. He wasn't planning on going to prom, but my heart goes out to all who were looking forward to that milestone. I am estranged from my eldest (her choice) and she currently lives in New York State, so I've been worried about her. There's more, but that's enough for now! I have been trying to stay positive.

I'm venturing out to the store today. It will probably be the last time I go out for awhile. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

There are patterns on line for making caps. You can get creative about the gown. maybe a backwards robe? 4. Annabel I think we have all been suffering a bit of stress of late which is only natural. I have been working on counting my blessings this week :) . Here is a link to one of our hymns which I find comforting at this time and hope you don't mind me putting it up here -

    https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/music/library/hymns/count-your-blessings?lang=eng&_r=1

Flynn is just adorable with those big beautiful eyes and I am sure he will have a good home with Chloe and I can see why you want one. What a blessing is all those figs you picked and you got to spend some family time together with Chloe and family :). The masks you have made are beautiful too and in such cheery colours.

    Service to others -
    - We had our NBN installed here today finally and the two men who were here said they and their families were almost out of toilet paper as they worked and when they got to the shops it was all gone. In our stockpile we had two extra packets we offered them and they insisted on paying us for them. We at least know that two other families have toilet paper to get them through :).

In the gardens and around the home -
    - We have been concentrating on all the little jobs that needed doing and today cleaned the inside of two kitchen windows and DH mowed all the lawns on the property. DH is still recovering from his back surgery so we are doing little tasks each day.
    - I weeded two vegetable garden beds and around the base of two fruit trees.
    - Today I dusted the rumpus room and deep cleaned the two bathrooms and a toilet.

    In the kitchen -
    - Cooked all meals and bread from scratch.

    Purchases and groceries -
-Bought a grocery Wish e-gift card saving 5% or $3.35.
    - From IGA purchased on markdowns 4 x 6pks of white and wholemeal bread rolls, a packet of fruit buns and some cheese and bacon loaves saving $7.60 on usual prices.
    - We managed to find 6kg of plain flour and 2 kg of mince to buy to top up stocks we had used for bread making and meals. I viewed this too as winning the lottery :).
    - From BigW we purchased on 50 - 90 percent off`markdowns 2 pairs of summer sandals for $3 a pair for me and a large kit kat share pack saving $40.25 on usual prices. I had worn out a few pairs of sandals and was super excited when I saw them at such low prices.

I will say I am so grateful for our grocery stockpile here and the ability to be able to eat and make nutritious family meals too of our choosing.

We do all need to take things day by day and yes we are being more creative too in many ways.

Have a wonderful week ahead everyone :).

We are going to be living on what we have now. I shopped a limited amount until the virus hit our area. It is here now so shopping is over.
The flour was like winning the lottery! I know how you feel! This shows how much life has changed in just a few weeks. Who would believe thins could change so fast?
Thank you for sharing the hymns, the link is most welcome here thank you.
I agree to take things day by day. And yes be creative. Time to make things stretch all we can and be inventive! Also time to do things at home we never once had time for! Many thanks and much love Lorna, Annabel.xxx

  5. Annabel,
What a true blessing, the new member to the family is absolutely beautiful. I would want one also.
Your cakes look divine, the girls must be so excited over the cakes.

I have been working on deep cleaning our home, I now have 2 floors done and one corner of yard. Major accomplishment for me.
    Now onto the basement!

I have been in self isolation for 17 days now. Definitely a new lifestyle. Husband is doing all of he grocery shopping.
I have been baking more and we are using every little bit of food we do have. No waste here. I have to admit it is for the best I stay home, but it does feel so much different.

I have also found I am baking more, we had home made strawberry shortcakes as a dessert treat and going to be making custard,"my comfort food".

We finally had warmer weather and my daffodils are blooming and so are the crocuses, so pretty out there. I was able to sit in the sun room without blankets yesterday, the Lord blessed me with seeing 2 hawks fly over head. The first I have seen since moving here. The turkey come for breakfast and dinner everyday now. Though my husband still doesn't like me referring them as dinner.
We also saw one of the car parades of "We Miss You". The teachers in elementary and middle schools in our district got together. They made signs and drove through the whole town. They were escorted by police, over 100 cars drove by waving.

There is so much to be appreciative of, when we slow down and take notice.
May all Be Blessed and Stay Safe.

  6. What a darling big baby!

In the USA people are putting teddy bears in their windows for families to take a drive and hunt for the bears. We put a bear in an upstairs window for the children this week. It makes me happy to see it, too. Our pantry and supplies are lasting long and it is amazing. I keep asking my husband about amounts such as eggs in our extra refrigerator on the garage and I am surprised every time by the amount. Only God....

And only God can bring an end to all this in His time. We continue to pray and trust in Him.

  8. Annabel - try to take care of yourself too - you care so much for others. I would venture to suggest that many of us have had moments over the last 3 weeks when “things” aka the world situation have got on top of us. This week I’ve been reasonably okay and have managed to do some things, but the two weeks before: forget it! My head was all over the place and there were more than a few tears.
Remember: it’s all right to be not all right and it is so important we share our feelings - helps relieve our tensions and makes others realise their own feelings are shared & natural. Love Lesley x

  10. Hello Annabel and bluebirds,

Honestly, not much has changed here in our home except no one is leaving for work. DH started a new job just last week and is now working it from home. As the new job means a move to another state, we are beginning the jobs of purging, painting, packing and projects. I'm not overly worried as I know the good God allows everything to happen for His Divine reason. I don't need to know what it is, I just need to trust. So I am.

Yesterday we took a walk and saw a big increase in foot traffic. People are so friendly and waving from afar, and we stood and chatted with some of our neighbors from the sidewalk as they sat on their front porch enjoying the spring weather. I do so hope all of these things continue; our society sure could use a reset in many, many areas.

I'm sorry you're struggling today, dear Annabel, but pray that you find peace and are able to take a deep breath and slow down. Keep writing here, keep the conversations and goodwill flowing, and we will all be such an encouragement to each other and that will brighten our little respective corners of the globe. Sending much love to you all and wishes for peace, health, and tranquility amidst the chaos and upheaval that swirls around us, real and imaginary. xx

I turned off the news it is too depressing. I have a little list on my counter for things I’m thankful for or make me happy. I add to it everyday. At times like these we have to be careful what we are feeding upon the most, or it will run you down physically and mentally. I am not shopping right now. We have the virus in our small town and I don’t feel it’s worth to out right now. I do my banking online and bill paying online. Before our shelter in place went in affect I froze milk and bought everything I could think we might need. Anything else is going to have to wait. Praying for Annabel and the Bluebirds. 15. Thanks for the great pic of Flynn. It was a bright spot in my day. I live near Seattle, Washington in U.S. so things are very challenging here. We are finding joy in the small gifts we are given. The other night it was doing that misty rain but at the same time this evening sun light hit our bare tree and it just glistened. It was beautiful! This week, I have been unwell with vertigo (yes, the world really did turn upside down and spin out of control) so have been so grateful for the soups and stews that I made in previous weeks and froze. Today, I am feeling a bit better and so I am planning on doing some sewing. I am going to make some little drawstring bags with vintage linens, gifted to me by a lovely fellow blogger, and ribbons that I've been collecting. 2. Dear Meg!

If your vertigo is associated with fluid in the ears, then I am remembering an old home remedy for the ears - onion juice! It is awkward to get the onion juice. Use a small, juicy onion; cut it near the end; and scrape using a teaspoon. When you have some onion juice, put it in your ear and lie down. I have used it, and I consider it worthwhile for sorting out the ears.

I hope you are fully well soon!

    3. My Mum would use similar on me for my recurring ear infections: cut (half) an onion up finely, put in an old stocking, tie around head so the chopped onion sits behind and against the ear. Sleep all night. Discard onion, wash everything, air the room.

Like you this week got to me. Bluey and I are OK but the economic shut down is really affecting those I love. I keep trying to see the good but this week I just didnt quite manage it.
I also made masks this week. The majority of our neighbours are in the high risk category, as are we. Bluey was telling one neighbour about our masks and before I knew it I had orders for a few. I also made more hand sanitiser and sprays for those who needed it.
I have spent a lot of time in the garden and have been giving veg away to friends, family and neighbours. I have had an issue with caterpillars of late. As I was squishing lots last night I was wishing I could have been feeding them to chooks. My good news is Bluey has agreed my having chooks is a good idea and sounds like a good Birthday present. My Birthday is the end of October so it might be a while yet before I get any. Until then I will be making caterpillar Squish.
I hope you are all remembering to check in with friends and family in this time of social isolation. Phone calls and over the fence chats will help us all through. Stay safe everyone.

  20. Dear Annabel, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down after a trying week. You who keep us all pepped up and perky with you seemingly endless energy and enthusiasm. It has been an awful week every day has felt like a week and last week seemed like a month. You have also had your share of family health issues the last month or so maybe you need to take some time to catch up with yourself and care for you.

I guess we all have to take a breath now and again to help get through all the bad stuff. If you are a planner, it is hard not to feel a bit panicky about all the food shortages, shops and other businesses closing and people out of work, we find it difficult to imagine what the new normal might be.

  21. Dear Annabel and all the bluebirds,

We have stayed in all week. Woolies opened up deliveries for those who are older or compromised in health which has been very helpful to get some things. Local stores are doing deliveries too and payments made contactless. These are bakeries, butchers and greengrocers so we are supporting them so they are still there when everything hopefully passes. Woolies have reduced our in store hours to 11-6 now 😨

Time outside has been invaluable. The days are still warm here and vitamin D likely to support our immune systems. It is just such a sanity saver too being out in the fresh air instead of cooped up indoors.

For those who have an abundance of eggs, my mum suggested freezing them. Here is a youtube video on that

  22. Dear Annabel and Bluebirds!!

These are the most beautiful masks that I have seen! It is no wonder that people want them! Ha ha ha ha!!!!

I love the special things in life, too - the animals, the plants growing, the food we have, and the dishes we cook! I made ricotta out of milk on sale; fresh pasta from home milled wheat; used tomato soup from a can for pasta sauce; and enjoyed the fact that my chooks are starting to lay again now that the weather is cooling and they are going through another growth spurt!!

Amazingly, the Almighty has helped me to get my basics into place, and I feel that I need this time at home to recuperate and get my own work done!! I also have time, now, to catch up with friends online, and this is important.

Best of all, I love walking with our great Shepherd. He has been working miracles for me, and He alone is my Keeper! ........ The joys of little things are the way I live, and I was over the moon about your excitement in getting toilet paper! ..... This kind of excitement could be more contagious than the dreaded virus!!

This worldwide scenario reminds me of Passover. Father in heaven, may You alone be our protection, through your Son’s atonement for us all.

    This is when things count!

  25. I've been home since March 17 and our restrictions have been more and more each day - but very necessary. Was doing ok until this morning - there was an online Zoom meeting with co-workers but I just couldn't get things to work properly - I could se everyone else laughing and chatting but I couldn't join in and it really hit me. Silly I know in the greater scheme of things but it was just one of those things. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow.
Love Flynn - what a gorgeous face. You are lucky to have family with you - I think it really makes a difference.
    Stay well.

Those figs look lovely, I see some fig jam in your future ;) I've been crafting a lot and just trying to keep on top of my mental health.I tidied up the back garden and got some sun. My middle son is home for another week as we works at a mine site, so we've been enjoying having him at home! xx

  28. Working this week at my hospital which was increasingly more stressfull with decisions about surgeries/procedures going ahead or not, who would have to be done who could wait. But I think that is going to be the new normal for a while and it was good that all of the people that we rung to cancel were so nice about it. Most were quite happy not to have to come to hospital anyway. Otherwise both my husband and I have been staying away from family/friends to make sure I stay healthy for work and the pantry is fine. I only venture out once or twice a week for a very quick trip to the supermarket and that is all.

  29. Annabel,
Chloe's new baby is the cutest! And I would love to pick figs and apples there is something comforting about picking fruit and veggies. Especially if you don't have to hurry and can enjoy the surroundings.
We had a nice day and the sunshine energizes me. it felt so nice and now the rain begins ugh! I have been starting seeds a few weeks apart so I don't get hit with ripe veggies all at once hopefully. I am thinking a Victory garden is in order again this year like a few years ago. I am starting any celery butts we have too, even if it only ends up to be a handful of celery. Lol I felt like I hit the jackpot at the store when I found 6 cans of tuna, I also got peanut butter. I bagged up 20 pounds of flour for Rick to drop off to those who need it, plus canned goods from the cellar and more rice and beans. I figure it will save them some money and they can add something else to their pantries and stretch it a bit longer.
Keeping busy keeps me at peace so I understand. One day at a time and we will get through this!
    XOXO

The tuna was hitting the jackpot and this is something like gold here.
Yes if we keep doing what we can we will get through this better and help others. With much love Annabel.xxx

  30. Dear Annabel , I'll agree with you on 'what a week it's been!" WE are in isolation here in NZ and all have to stay home except for essential workers or to buy essentials like food or medications. WE are allowed to go out for exercise in our home area so I have been taking two grandchildren with me for over an hour's walk most days , we ave at their great grandparents from the pavement as we pass and sometimes do the same to their father , who they cant be with as he is not pafrt of our family bubble as such. That may be a new term to many of you but it means the people we see and live with every day . This is to stop the Corona virus spreading , our PM hopes .
Anyway Flyn is just gorgeous ! I can see you adding to your orphans haha .
The teacakes look delish , and the figs look ready to eat .Your facemasks look so pretty too. With keepign two metres distance form outsiders Ive not worn one here but I did once when living in Asia , many years ago when there was a problem .
With the busy household here and isolating , I have been baking muffins and tonight your cake dessert with fruit on top which is always a hit here . Crocheting in the evening when baby is in bed as he is into everythign now at 16 months , more a toddler I know but still a baby to me :-) . Schools and uni's are closed too so his older siblings are home as well as his mum , our daughter , and my husband , for a month at this stage .
Little jobs are gettign done and last night I made two essential oil health sprays and a facial serum.
Take care everyone and keep smiling in these changing times .,

I agree this is challenging time. I am having to think more on a day by day basis. Take care of yourself. I say this and need to do it too! We take care of everyone else! With love, Annabel.xxx

  31. Hi Annabel, Your apple cake looks yummy. Glad you are taking a break mentally from all the over load of virus talk. Being in your bed resting is a great place to be. Flynn is a cutie! Figs? They look good. But I have not eaten a one of them. Do you eat them like an apple? Are they sweet?
You live in a fruitful country. I think it would be great to have such access to so much fruit.
Your face masks are very pretty! I have thought about making some of those for my family, too. But one day at a time. Eventually all this will pass. This is a temporary thing, not the new normal. We find the good and look at that. Eventually all this will subside. It is just as easy to believe that, as it is to believe it won't. So I choose to think it will all work out soon. Take care. God bless.

Figs are hard to describe! They can be roasted and eaten as a vegetable and good with chicken. They can be eaten raw as well or served as a sweet! They make great jam. But they are not like anything else I can think of!

  32. I was home a week before we made a trip to get gasoline for mower. It felt like being cast out of prison to go up the road a bit. We actually walked into the local grocery on Friday. While I was busy keeping social distance, my husband greeted every one with a hearty Hello and smile and I thought his approach was admirable. I made note that I ought to have done as he did, social distance doesn't mean unfriendly! I was going to purchase milk but son had asked if we found any to get him some. It was a limit of one and so we got the one and gave it to him. No limits on bread, we got what each household needed. I'm grateful it's a small town store and appeared to have pretty good stock but daughter let me know that there had been no milk the night before when she'd gone in.
The sun shone and the trees leafed out and flowers bloomed. We have limited news access (on purpose) and so it's hard to remember there's trouble in the world at large when things go on as normal here. I ended the week feeling it was all a bit unreal. Next week we will go to try to stock for the month. We have told our neighbor we'll do what we can for her and I'll check with my mom to see what it is she'll need and we'll get what we can. I have given quite a bit out of my stock this week but that's okay. It's my joy to share with those who need it.

It is a tough balance being friendly and social distancing! I had it go kind of wrong. I was friendly to an old lady (as I always am) and she came up to me and grabbed my arm! Then I felt I couldnt be rude and so it went.
While shopping yes it is good to shop for others. There are so many ways to help. And times do feel unreal. Things sure escalated so fas to this point. You are doing a good job Terri! with love Annabel.xxx

  34. Lovely post Annabel. I always look forward to them even if I don’t comment every time. You had a very productive week, and bravo on baking pretty cakes, making masks, picking figs, and keeping busy and safe. I will be working from home now, so I have to clean up a spare bedroom and transform it into a professional looking office quickly.

If we all look at social isolation, our global reality, as “temporary” it will make it easier to manage. We will get through this! Let’s keep encouraging each other as always we do, Bluebirds! We are in this together! Much love from Teresa

  35. Dear Annabel and Bluebirds
One week down in isolation and many more to come. I do need to pop up to the shop at Montville on Tuesday to remove my stock now that the shop is closed. It will be an early start so that I do not have to spend a lot of time in the shop with anyone else doing the same.

Medication has to be picked up from the compounding pharmacy and I also need to have a blood test. Thankfully my husband found a good mask for me to use. If I get time I want to make a couple of cotton ones to wear over the top of the mask so that it looks pretty.

This week just gone I spent time organizing how to keep us fed (when we run out) if/when my husband returns to work. It is looking really good with the local IGA doing click and collect and home delivery. My preferred fruit and veg shop has two different sized boxes available for order the day before pick up that you can pay for over the 'phone and they will put into your car and the butcher in the same small complex is offering a system where you can 'phone your order through, pay for it (or pay on pick up) and they will give it to you at the back door so that you don't have to be in the shop even though they now have a security guard on the door to make sure that social distancing is being adhered to.

We have now set up the spare bedroom (our old one) as my craft/anything room as well as a guest room. Instead of two bedside tables we have used a small desk on one side of the bed which allows me to put up my sewing machine, the chair that use to be in the spare bedroom at my mother in laws fits perfectly. It will eventually get a coat of paint but for now it is doing the job just as it is.

Even though the shop at Montville has closed I am still knitting, just not as much each day. This enforced break is allowing me to really think about how each room is to be used and setting it up properly.

Annabel I love the new baby - beautiful face. Had to laugh about the icing- it doesn't matter what colour it is because to little ones it is beautiful.

Keep safe everyone - times may be a changing in so many ways but there is no good in worrying about it. We just have to adapt.

    Love to all

    1. Dear Lynette, If I told you a year ago your butcher would have a security guard I bet this would have sounded ridiculous! So this is how fast life has change. It is unbelievable.
I am glad you can just continue to knit. We need our crafts and activities. Laster all this will sell! Meantime you can build up stock.
I am pleased you have a click and collect service. This helps. I had nothing but one local (half hour away) little hotel is converting business and they will do some groceries to be picked up! This could be a life saver!
Very please also that you have your sewing/craft room. I think this might be a few months of much time for such things! Keep safe and well, With love Annabel.xxx

  36. Dear Annabel,
I tried to leave you a message yesterday but my internet kept crashing.I saw the messages for the bluebirds went through. May God bless and keep you in this time. I pray as you draw close to God he will draw close to you. Psalm 2 he is your glory and the lifter of your head. We are living in scary times. I am grateful that you were able to move to the farm.During these times we need to keep our eyes on God. Annabel thank you for being faithful. It is okay to be sad.I find myself crying for our world. The word says Jesus wept. These last few years have been the hardest in my life. Yet I know God is good. I know He loves me and all things work together for good for those called according to His purpose. It is my prayer that you would have his perfect peace.
    Much love,

  37. I have to agree that these times are surreal. Going to the supermarket reminds me of the shopping trips shown in The Handmaid's Tale. I thank you for focussing on the positive.

I am glad that you could increase the size of your flock and the baby lama is beautiful. His eyes suck you right in. The figs look delicious. They are so expensive and I am sure you will find many ways to use them.

The masks are so pretty. I need to make a few to cover our real masks. I bought two N95 masks during the fires and I want to help them last longer. We also were fortunate enough to gain some masks from our pharmacy. I am keeping mum very close to home as she gets horrible chest infections every year. Meanwhile I am stir crazy.

Before our library closed we were allowed to withdraw up to fifty books. I have cleaned an area and large stack of books are waiting for reading. I also want to start another quilt top. Both my girls are marrying. Poor Bethany is definitely in the five only group and is so sad but determined to marry on the day they planned.

    1. Dear Suzan, You were wise to buy the masks! I got some too and so glad. I have kept them as part of my medical pantry. I even once thought if there was a pandemic no one would be able to get masks. Yet no way did I ever expect a pandemic!
Your Mum would be high risk I know so this us very hard.
I am glad you have books! A quilt will be the perfect thing to do. I am so sorry for the interruptions to the weddings. I know so many impacted by this. Each day I hear of so many difficult situations especially with jobs. It is one day at a time! With much love Annabel.xxx

  38. Dear Annabel,

I love Chloe's new addition! And those figs....yummy!

We are trying to stay patient (not my strongest point) and positive, here. We are so lucky that hubby's job is still assured and that he had been able to work from home for two weeks already. I have arranged with elderly neighbors and a neighbor with cancer to go in once a week and do their grocery shopping, so I feel better actually "doing something" that feels useful to the community, while staying within the required parameters. Really missing church, and we have now found out that we cannot have Easter services.

Otherwise, have started and transplanted many seeds, sewed a dress for myself, cut out a jumper (dress overall) for a daughter, made yogurt and bread, gone for lots of walks, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, hubby has pruned the fruit trees and will be bottling wine tomorrow. In most ways, my life has not changed, but the uncertainty of plans has made everything seem very strange, and in sometimes time seems to drag! :) I know God is in control, so I just try to remember to pray and breathe and move on to the next thing, as you say, Annabel!

Looking forward to your next post!!! Best wishes and lots of love to you and your family!
