Ask and you shall receive.

We are not good askers. Or I wasn't. We dream and wish and worry but not necessarily ask. Very book from the Bible to The Secret tell us if we ask we will receive. The Bible goes further it says to be specific.

I think we are afraid someone, whether it's the man in the appliance shop or God, will say no. But what if we get 9 yes answers and one no? We need to be less afraid of the "no's" and just jump in!

What made me post about this today is this week we did have a good result through asking.  Normally now we always ask if something will be reduced for cash. It's almost always a yes.  I simply would not buy anything major without asking that.
And normally if there is an expensive medical test, drug or something we would ask if there is an alternative and normally there is. Last year Andy needed an MRI on his foot. He had stepped on a long thorn. It was going to be several hundred dollars. On top of not being able to work for two weeks. We rang around Adelaide and got that for free. Please always ring around!

This week he needed a scan on his heart. Not a fright, he has had a procedure due to a defect he was born with and he was seeing his specialist as he does annually. He was told this year he needs this test plus another one and it was over $400. Only for some reason ringing around didn't happen and he had to go Tuesday. So we agreed it was still worth ASKING. He said to the receptionist is there an alternative to this test at all? The receptionist said she would check and everything just went ahead. That was all he could do. Then when he was leaving he went to pay and the whole consult plus the two tests added up to $33. Yep. $33.
It pays to ask. Always ask.

I think it helps in life anyway if you are always nice, friendly and polite. People WANT to help you. We help others. It goes around.

These things are small scale and I have found actually asking, even for big things, often works if we overcome our fear/pride/preconceived ideas. Step out boldly and ask!

Last Sunday after Mother's Day lunch Chloe drove me home. A great heap of hard rubbish had appeared on my own street. As we sailed by I spotted something and I'm saying "Stop the car!!!" Poor Chloe. She doesn't care, she's used to it!

And here was a jug and bowl, albeit not my colours but the shape was gorgeous. I had recently looked in Provincial Living at vases and everything was $80 plus, another gorgeous one I saw was $129. So out I hop...

And here it is now. I used paint left over from when I made over all those baskets.

I really love it. I decided to use the bowl as a bird bath in another project. And use the jug in my made over kitchen.

As I painted beautiful moulding showed up. If you want to see moulding and carving go light, it stands out then and is gorgeous.

I'm convinced it is nicer than any I saw for $100.  Painting it took two sessions of about 5 minutes.

Today I am off to the nursing home to see Kath and Wilma. Andy has told them this morning I am coming. So I had better get moving!

Have a wonderful weekend, I am so glad it's Friday!.xxx
