The little birds...

If you watch little birds you will see they are busy and happy! Using whatever they can find they create the most gorgeous little nest.
I would be the little bird with some glittery thread in her nest!
We can be like this. Happily working away with the things that are available to us to create a beautiful and happy home.
All the while with a little song in our heart.

Easter Blessings.

Today is the last working day before Easter and Andy is off to see his girlfriends as he delivers to the nursing home this morning. The mission really is to brighten their day and make them feel loved. When I made my Easter nest earlier in the week I realised you don't have to be little to love how pretty they are and it occurred to me to make little ones for Kath and Wilma. They ended up looking very joyful and it was not expensive to do. I got the little yellow baskets for $1 each.
I can't wait to hear how they reacted as they are so thrilled just to see Andy every week. He always comes home and tells me every detail... often sends me a text about it as he can't wait!

As I was making things up I knew I had more eggs than I really need and made a little pack for a girl who I talk to at the supermarket. She is so lovely and we always chat, she works on the checkouts. Now I know she has overcome some major adversities yet she is the sweetest, friendliest, loveliest person and works so hard. Not everyone is nice to her and I've seen her patiently be nice to really rude people and others full of complaints and whines. She brightens my day and the ordinary ritual of grocery shopping. So I made a little gift for her.

If there is ever a time for sacrifice and love it is Easter. There is plenty of time to do something special to bless someone lonely or sick or someone who just deserves it because they always try so hard. It doesn't take much either, people seem overwhelmed that you thought of them really. The smallest things make a big difference.

From the cheap shop I had Easter cellophane, and wrapped everything up and tied with pastel bows. Simple.  They look very cheerful!

Waiting to go these even made the house seem brighter and happier.

We don't have any really little kids in the family, my niece is the youngest. But you don't have to have little children to enjoy giving at Easter and I have had so much fun just getting these ready to go.

The house is looking brighter too as I washed my windows. I have this theory that as there is less light in autumn and winter letting in as much as possible helps. We have big bay windows in the living area and it is so light and lovely. Then I pruned hydrageas and some roses and filled the green bin. So I achieved a few more things on my list of things to do for Autumn. It was a good day.

We are having the nicest autumn weather, really it's glorious and I'm loving it. I'm trying to soak up some sun everyday and doing my painting out on the outside table or having a cup of tea in the sun.

I want to thank everyone for lovely comments. I love hearing too about anything that is a tradition in your family or a recipe or inexpensive way of doing something. I am learning and trying to learn everyday and it is wonderful to hear and see what others people are doing. There are not enough hours in the day or days in the week to try everything I want to. I often say I cannot possibly live long enough to even try and do everything I already want to do~ But most of all words that uplift and encourage each other are the important thing. "Gracious words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body" how true this is! And "encourage one another and build each other up" and "a joyful heart is good medicine"...  I know these things are true. Nanna B was always happy. She had a lovely attitude, she was so positive and sweet to people and people loved her.You always felt happy after being with her.  And Laines Letters... ever encouraging and joyful, they helped me feel happy and that I knew my mission even on a grim day! One of my favourites "busy hands make happy hearts" isn't scripture but I'm still sure it's true! Easter really is a celebration and some little kindnesses and lovely words can really be the world of difference to someone and just like a boomerang it comes right back to us. What a deal!

Have a very blessed Easter and a lovely break as well.xxx

    1. Thank you Jacqui and Happy Easter to you too. I like Laines Letters best, over the In Your Home letters but thats just my personal preference and I love it all. Most are alphabetically listed, I have got a couple of links now... really maybe I would start by finding s subject that sounds interesting and read and see how you like them. I dont think an order matters so much with the letters as they are subject based. I have read them many times and now reading them again they apply to me in new ways ie the role of Grandmothers (not one yet but...) I sort of read one a week and digested it, now I am reading one a day. They are like a daily devotional/bible study and chat with a girlfriend all at once! Hope you are sewing away! xxx
