The little birds...

If you watch little birds you will see they are busy and happy! Using whatever they can find they create the most gorgeous little nest.
I would be the little bird with some glittery thread in her nest!
We can be like this. Happily working away with the things that are available to us to create a beautiful and happy home.
All the while with a little song in our heart.

Divine tulle!

Tulle is the loveliest thing. After making the tulle garlands I grabbed some more as it was really inexpensive. For your parcel bows it will often be a cheaper option than ribbon.

Cut strips using twice the width you are aiming for, at least. It needs to be generous and gathered up. These bows were over 12 inches wide to begin with.

This is so soft and delicate it's difficult to show!

Imagine this for a wedding present or in pink for a little girl...

This tulle came from Spotlight but for large amounts I have purchased it online. There are different grades, some is thicker and harder others are fine and very soft. The soft is much much nicer and looks better although you use more in gathering it up.

A whole present can be wrapped in tulle over cellophane or paper or you can use it just as you would use ribbon. I have added some bling to the centre of the bows using broken jewellery and glue.

Parcels like these look so lovely under the tree, it's worth the few minutes to make your'e wrapping a little bit special.

A cheaper version is to buy fine net curtains at the op shop, wash them and cut them up for your "tulle" ribbons. It will work much the same and provide you with so much fabric!

The blue I found for the garland I made Chloe was so soft and beautiful I'm dreaming of getting some more of that! It's a little bit addictive it's so lovely!

  1. Annabel, what a beautiful idea using jewellery to hold the tulle. So often at Thrift Stores you see jewellery that would be suitable for this.
One of the ways that we buy soft netting instead of tulle if we need a lot is the curtains called " Lill" from IKea. They are incredibly soft, with each curtain measuring 280 x250 cm . For a pack of 2, it's only $5.99. I know that they are sold on Ebay for those who may not live near an IKea store. They are something that I keep unopened packets in the cupboard,as within minutes they can transform a space with softness.
