The little birds...

If you watch little birds you will see they are busy and happy! Using whatever they can find they create the most gorgeous little nest.
I would be the little bird with some glittery thread in her nest!
We can be like this. Happily working away with the things that are available to us to create a beautiful and happy home.
All the while with a little song in our heart.

Crochet embellishments.

When I was little I stayed with my Nan quite often. She taught me to crochet these lovely roses. I have made them at times all my life to embellish things like scarves, hats and now parcels. Things we teach children stick! She showed me once and I have been making them ever since. These days I think of Nan every time I make them.

They are amazingly easy and take less than an hour each. I do them watching a movie or if being driven somewhere. For this I have used a yarn with a bit of a sparkle.

This shows some with a card I just made...

You can make heaps of them and join them together as a scarf which is beautiful.

Over the next few days I'll post a full tutorial on how to make them.

Meantime I've started making them in a dusty pink sparkle to go with some parcels next week.

This shows some on a parcel ready to go. The paper is script which I found on Etsy and I love it!

For a rustic effect you can actually make these from string. But it's not much yarn and you can really use left overs and be making them for free. I love that they look lovely and are a fraction of the cost of horrible store bought bows.

Lovely parcels under the tree then given are just another joy of Christmas. Care and love put into packaging makes such a difference to a gift. When you can just look at a gift wondering if you can bear to open it you know it looks beautiful! I post many gifts, I want to imagine the recipient being excited just at the sight of it!
